Bramlet [RIP]

We brought this boy hamster home with us on ____, 2006, after being quite impressed with his unique fur color. He was a little bit nervous at times, but really liked to play, running quite quickly in his ball or out loose. He also liked to jump a lot, and even tried to defy gravity by attempting to throw food UP his tubes.

We had trouble finding a good name for him, so we tried out Bramlet for a bit, inspired by Stephen Colbert's character "Bramlet Abercrombie." It seemed to suit him, though we ended up calling him "the boy" more often.

Only a few months after we brought him home, we noticed that his abdomen was a bit larger and seemed bloated. We scheduled him for an appointment, but took him to the vet early (on December 19, 2006) when he seemed to be uncomfortable. He ended up having surgery that day after the vets found something they couldn't identify. They were surprised that he was doing so well, especially after finding that he had a possible tumor or infected organ. He made it through the surgery initially, but soon after being sewn up, his heart stopped beating. The vets tried to revive him, but it was no use.

We found out later that what they removed was a lymphoma.

We will miss him dearly, this funny boy we didn't know for very long.
