Pitey [RIP]

This girl hamster came home with us on July 12, 2005, along with her friend Crazy Pie. We originally called her "Tiny Pie," related to her small size and her friend's name, but after she bit me (quite hard!), it turned into Pitey (rhymes with Bitey).

She was pretty small at first, but she had a lot of energy. She liked to run in her ball very quickly, banging into anything and everything, and also had a tendency to chew on parts of her tubes and skyhouse very loudly (angry girl!).
She also sometimes reminded us of our now-gone hamster friend Piggus, mainly because she had similar coloring and was as small as Piggus was at first. Except she was a bit fiestier. ;)
She eventually grew bigger, and was a little bit overweight, but not as bad as Piggy had been. She was still very active though and liked to run in her ball or loose, though she'd get a bit territorial if let to her own devices.
We sort of made up a mean or evil personality for Pitey, creating silly stories about her plots to take over the world. She wasn't really mean though and got pretty mellow later on in life.
She died suddenly on the morning of November 13, 2006, possibly from heart problems. She'd been breathing a bit more heavily but was still active and interested in playing, so it was quite a surprise to us. She will be missed dearly.
