Puffy (Puffler) [RIP]

This girl came home with us in October 2004 along with a brown girl hamster. Unfortunately, the brown girl hamster did not make it (she got sick very quickly, even before we got to play with her), but Puffler stayed with us for more than a year and a half.

Her fur was quite uniquely colored, being a pale cream color, and so were her eyes, being a dark shade of red. She was very good at "marmoting" (standing up straight) and was always very well-behaved. She never tried to bite us, though she didn't really like to sit on our hands, always jumping away at some point.

We tried to train her to jump between our two couches, and she found a way to angle between the two to cross them instead. We tried to breed Puffy with Little Boy once, but it didn't seem to "take." Late in life, she became quite vocal, squeaking and sniffing to get the boys' attention when she was in heat.

She died late in the evening of April 13, 2006, after fighting a respiratory infection of some sort for a little over 2 weeks. We'd given her various antibiotics and did whatever we could, but she didn't fully recover.
